Bitcoin Churns Between $81,000 and $84,000: Volatility Without Direction

Bitcoin is doing something it hasn’t done in months: moving a lot and going nowhere.
The token has spent the past three sessions swinging between a low of $80,963 and a high of $84,061 — a $3,100 range — yet closed Monday at $83,095, almost exactly where it started the week. Daily volume above $30 billion on each of the last four sessions makes this the most active churn of the year. Big money is changing hands, and the price is telling us neither side is winning.
What the churn says
Compressed ranges with heavy volume are energy being stored. The question is which way it releases. The bull case: every test of $81,000 has been absorbed within hours, spot-led buying keeps stepping in, and ETF inflows remain positive — the market is shaking out weak hands above support. The bear case: four failed pushes above $84,000 in two weeks show the supply is real, and the macro tape — a runaway dollar, an equity market one guidance miss from a wobble — offers crypto no tailwind.
The level that decides it
$80,000 below, $84,800 above. A break of either, on the kind of volume we’re seeing, should travel fast — $77,400 on the downside, $87,100 on the upside. Until one goes, this is a scalper’s market and a spectator sport for everyone else.
One thing to respect: record participation from both sides usually resolves in the direction of the next macro headline. Thursday’s US CPI is the obvious candidate. Don’t hold large positions through it in either direction.
