Gold Bounces to 4,351: Dead Cat or the Real Bottom?

June 15, 2026 · Gold News · By Stock Golden Expert

Gold’s dead-cat bounce is impressive — up nearly 6% from Wednesday’s low of 4,046 to Monday’s close of 4,352.

But is it a bottom? The honest answer is that bottoms are only visible in hindsight, and June bounces in gold have a history of disappointing the first wave of dip-buyers. What we can do is weigh the evidence.

The bull evidence

The rebound’s speed and volume fit a liquidation flush rather than a fundamental break. Speculative positioning is now net-neutral for the first time in two years — the crowd that fueled the decline has left the building. The dollar, while firm, has stopped accelerating: EUR/USD has based near 1.16 and USD/JPY is consolidating below its highs. If the dollar’s engine stalls, gold’s biggest headwind disappears.

The bear evidence

Real yields — gold’s true nemesis — are still rising, and the metal has made three lower highs since April: 4,918, 4,783, 4,578. The downtrend is intact until that pattern breaks. Also, June seasonality is historically poor for gold, and the summer months rarely produce durable bottoms in any case. September and October are historically when the metal finds its footing.

The trade

Range framework: 4,046 below, 4,578 above. Inside it, fade the edges rather than chase the middle. A close above 4,578 would break the lower-high sequence and open 4,783; below 4,046, the path runs to 3,955 and then the dreaded 4,200 test.

Whichever way it breaks, the next 400 dollars of gold’s move will tell us more about the macro regime than any speech this summer.
