Crypto’s Summer Lull: Bitcoin Stuck Below $63,000

July 13, 2026 · Crypto News · By Stock Golden Expert

It’s been ten days since bitcoin last traded above $63,000, and the crypto market has settled into that uncomfortable limbo between “bottoming process” and “distribution before the next leg down.”

The token trades near $62,800 this morning, up modestly from the July 1 low of $57,748 but still 24% below the May peak. Volume has dried up to pre-rally levels, volatility has halved from June’s panic, and the retail crowd — which chased the spring rally — has gone quiet. Institutional metrics tell a steadier story: ETF flows are modestly positive again, and the futures basis has normalized.

Bear case: the summer fakeout

Weak bounces after leveraged crashes often fail at the 38–50% retracement — roughly $66,000–$70,000 here — before the final flush. The May structure (lower highs from $82,792) remains bearish, and seasonality is against crypto until September. If $57,700 breaks, the market’s psychology shifts from “buy the dip” to “every rally is a gift,” and $50,000 becomes the magnet.

Bull case: the base

Every washout metric that mattered in past cycles has reset: leverage purged, sentiment despondent, long-term holders unmoved. Historically, that combination has marked accumulation zones more often than distribution ones. A reclaim of $66,000 would shift the intermediate trend; above $70,500, the bear case is dead.

The trade

Neither case deserves full conviction. The range — $57,700 to $66,000 — is the trade, sized small, until one edge breaks with authority. In crypto, the edge always breaks eventually. The only question is whether you’re positioned for it or reacting to it.
