Bitcoin Knocks on $87,000: The September Sprint Continues
$87,000.
Bitcoin is knocking on that number after a week that silenced every remaining September skeptic. The token pushed as high as $86,400 on Friday — its best level since the spring — and has now gained roughly 38% from the July low in eleven weeks. The May peak at $82,800 was reclaimed decisively on Monday, converted to support by Thursday, and never looked back.
What’s driving the sprint
The proximate catalysts are the usual cocktail: accelerating ETF inflows, a risk-on tone in global markets, and — importantly — the dollar’s failure to break to new highs even as the Fed stayed hawkish. Crypto has become the market’s preferred expression of “soft landing with liquidity intact”: strong enough economy for earnings, easy enough financial conditions for speculation.
Underneath, the structure is textbook bull-market repair: each pullback shallower than the last, spot volume leading, leverage restrained, and long-term holders unmoved by a 38% rally. The market is climbing a wall of worry — September seasonality, stretched equities, a wounded carry trade — and keeps clearing it.
What’s above
$87,364 is the next marker (September’s high sits just beyond), then the psychological $90,000, and beyond that, the all-time high zone near $97,000. Below, $82,800 must now hold as support on any retest — the level that capped the market for four months can’t fail on its first test as a floor.
The September curse looks broken. Whether the rally outruns the macro risks beneath it is the question the fourth quarter gets to answer.
