Weekend Crypto Watch: Bitcoin Holds $77K After August Surge
Weekend edition, for the crypto market that never sleeps.
Bitcoin enters the weekend near $77,500 — flat for the week after August’s spectacular 25% rally. The consolidation just below $78,000 looks, so far, like a healthy pause rather than exhaustion: volume is down, volatility is compressed, and the futures market shows balanced positioning rather than leverage building.
What the week said
The $82,800 ceiling (May’s peak) remains untested, and the market seems content to build energy below it. ETF inflows continued at a measured pace, on-chain accumulation metrics stayed positive, and — notably — the rally survived a week of firm-dollar headlines that would have crushed it in June. Resilience to bad news is a bull-market trait.
Weekend dynamics
Thin weekend liquidity cuts both ways: moves extend further on less volume, in both directions. Key levels for the next 48 hours: support $74,000, then $72,800; resistance $78,500, then the big one at $82,800. A weekend push above $78,500 on rising spot volume would set up a Monday assault on the May peak.
The next two weeks (Fed, jobs report) will decide whether this is a new leg or the year’s most elaborate bull trap. Until then: the trend is up, the leverage is modest, and the burden of proof is on the bears. Enjoy the weekend.
